Big Green Machine = Fun Play Memories

Big Green Machine

Our July purchase of the Huffy Green Machine 2 resulted from a special family dinner conversation about our fun play memories. My seven year old wears a constant grin when he’s racing around the neighborhood. I get the biggest kick out of watching adults try it.  I’ve managed to talk quite a few friends into it – since the weight limit is 180 pounds.  Back in the day, most of us girls rode Big Wheels. I find all the big boys have memories of their own Big Green Machine.

I really wish I had my video camera filming when my brother-in-law tried it one night. It was absolutely hilarious! Whenever he spun out, he flipped. Our kids were worried at first, but when they figured out he was okay they made a game out of being his rescue team. Today Dara volunteered to try it out — make sure you click to see the video. I took a few spins myself, but there’s something joyful about watching someone else do it for the first time.

Dara and I will be unplugging this weekend to brush up on our play skills.  Hope you all get a chance to do the same!

Note: Huffy posts all sorts of warning on the bike about not riding it in the street, etc.  It doesn’t really fit kids smaller than 5 or 6 years old. Even though the seat is adjustable, they need the leg-length to reach the pedals.  So if you have children that are too little to fit the bike, maybe Mom or Dad should get it ahead of time just to test out. If you know what I mean . . .
