Melinda Park in Mission Viejo sits right along Rancho Santa Margarita Parkway on the border of Mission Viejo and Rancho Santa Margarita. It has great views of Saddleback Mountain.

Location: Sits at the corner of Melinda and Rancho Santa Margarita Parkway. Melinda is between Alicia Parkway and Marguerite Parkway. It’s also reachable by taking Olympiad and turning onto Melinda. Highlights:
  • This park is easy to find and clean
  • There is a huge grass field for running around and playing ball
  • Massive covered picnic area makes it ideal for reunions or birthday parties
  • The play area is huge and has equipment for toddlers and big kids
  • Red standing teeter totter, ride-on motorcycle, and sit-on teeter totter are favorites
  • Steel mesh benches/seating areas spread throughout play area and walkways
  • Beautiful roses and sycamores surround the play and picnic areas

Be Aware:

  • Park at the intersection of 2 busy streets

Checklist:

  • Small dedicated parking lot off Melinda
  • Recycled rubber and sand play surfaces
  • Clean restrooms located very near the play area
  • Basketball court, soccer field, and baseball backstop
  • Not a lot of shade on playground, but picnic gazebo and trees nearby
  • Drinking fountains
  • Easy to see kids from all points
  • Large picnic gazebo and a few grills
  • There is a phone number for the Recreation and Community Services listed on the Mission Viejo website to determine if you need to purchase liability insurance for your event or to get info on reserving the picnic area 949-581-0795.

This is by far my daughter's favorite park. Wish there was more shade, but we compensate by going after 4pm. On sunnier days we opt to go to Florence Joyner Park nearby. As always, we prefer sandy parks to the woodchipped ones.

The "massive covered picnic area"… do you need to reserve somehow or is it first come first serve

I really liked the vibe of this park. The kids were well behaved and the parents actually we aware of their children. It was pleasant place to play.

Thanks! I made the change above. You will find that park information is often not reliable on Mapquest or even Google maps. Many times I enter an address and no park exists in that location. That’s why I already include a MAP link after the address. All you have to do is click on the word MAP. I’ve already done the work for you:) I appreciate these comments so much! The address given on here for this park I couldn’t locate it on mapquest, so I did my own research, and found the correct address to find Melinda Park. It is 28951 Melinda road
Mission Viejo, Ca 92692
