Family Photography at the Park

Family Photography at the Park

A new website look wouldn’t be complete without new photography.  I’m thrilled when I can support local small businesses, especially when the businesses are run by moms. I turned to two moms, Noel at Bosh Images and Mali of Mali Workman Photography, for our outdoor photography session. I asked them for “playful, fun, outdoorsy” and they did not disappoint. Dara and I brought our families. We didn’t sit still much and we came home wearing a nice layer of lawn on our clothes. The session was more like a playdate with  jumping, rolling down hills, and sitting on rocks. I’ll let the photography speak for itself. TIP: Most posts are paired with slideshows. I asked Noel and Mali to share some of their best play memories and nature experiences:

Noel

Bosh ImagesPlay Memories: “As a kid I remember watching Pippi Longstocking over and over–so much that I had it memorized. I love how everything became play with her. My sisters and I would play don’t touch the ground using furniture, and once even strapped sponges to our shoes in order to mop the floor.”

Best Nature Experience: “Before I was a mom, my husband and I went to Costa Rica for a week and spent $14 a night for a hotel that was feet away from the beach, with monkeys in the backyard. We fished everyday for our dinner and went surfing in the afternoon. I felt like I was living nature.”

Mali Workman PhotographyPlay Memories: “I have so many favorite play memories… from laughing and throwing water balloons at a park to playing kickball at the beach.  Oh, I can’t forget boogie boarding and jumping waves with my kids.”

Best Nature Experience: “Since my children were born, I have to say that my appreciation for nature has been developing at a fast pace.  Both of my kids are very nature people – they were just born like that… no learned behavior here :). They love to explore tide pools and take long hikes. They appreciate insects are completely fascinated by reptiles.  They love being in contact with nature so much that we go camping every year.  Even disliking dirt and bugs as much as I do, I really enjoy camping with my family. So I guess camping is my best nature experience. Year after year.  As a photographer my very favorite thing is the beautiful light each morning. And that’s closely followed by exploring nature and learning about it along with my kids.”
