Sis and Me Climb Trees on One of Many Play Adventures. I grew up on the top of a hill surrounded by avocado tree groves and oak trees. All of our oaks were perfect for climbing. I remember spending many hours running around the property barefoot – not caring about the burrs from weeds or little spikes on the oak leaves. To this day, when I climb trees, I prefer mighty oaks. The bark has grooves and finger holds and the branches spread out in crazy angles.
I cover playgrounds on Fun Orange County Parks and we often go “off the beaten track.” Last week, my daughter and I took a nature trail and found this tree just begging to be climbed:
