Regatta Grounds Park in Lincoln City, Oregon

Regatta Grounds Park in Lincoln City, Oregon

I primarily write about playgrounds in my own backyard, but I can’t “turn off” my play radar when we are travelling. Regatta Grounds Park is home to Sandcastle Playground which we discovered last summer up in Oregon:

When there’s a heat wave in Salem (102+ degrees!), Oregonians head to the coast. On our recent vacation – we followed them there. We could hardly see the ocean through the fog while enjoying clam chowder and cobbler in Depoe Bay. The thermometer in the car read 58 degrees! Hurray! But by the time we made it to Regatta Park the temps were in the high 60’s and the sun was burning through the fog.

This place was amazing for kids and big enough for the adults to join in. The wooden train was a favorite for all. The views of the lake were amazing and next summer we’ll bring our suits to take a dip in the swimming area. I wish we brought burgers and charcoal – the picnic areas were great and close to the playground. A family was barbecuing and it smelled amazing.

Location:
Regatta Park is located off the 101 at NE West Devil’s Lake Road. The turn is across from the Chinook Winds Golf Resort. From NE West Devil’s Lake Road, turn left onto Regatta Park Road. Or take 14th Street off the 101 to the same destination. I suggest studying the map before you get there – it was a little hard to find just going by directions. MAP

Bathrooms:
Beware of the bathrooms – definitely primitive with no doors on the stalls or place to dry your hands after washing up. Bring the antibacterial gel!

Dining:
Lots of restaurants and drive-thru coffee off the 101 in Lincoln City.

Thanks for the recommendation! We took our twin, 2-year-old boys there today & it was a lot of fun! The boys played & played on the big play structure & enjoyed the swings. We also had a snack in the shade. We didn't have our swimsuits, so we didn't go in the lake, but there was a nice sandy area on the lake, and a section for swimming that was separate from the boats. Next time we'll bring swimsuits. Thanks again!
